Hello fellow NASers. Man it has been a CRAZY two months and I totally slacked off on my
NAS participation. In October I did the
31 Days of Blogging Challenge which I actually never finished because I ended up moving at the end of October and then I have NO IDEA where I was in November…I feel like it totally just flew by! But I am back just to talk about Advent…just in time for a NAS break LOL I have awesome timing right?!!?
So Advent. I have always enjoyed Advent even though it’s usually a pretty busy time of the year. My favorite color is purple so I LOVE the liturgical colors we see during Advent and Lent. I also feel like Advent is a happier time than Lent.
A few weeks ago I read this blog post about
why single women should decorate for christmas. I really enjoyed it and agreed with the author. Even if you don’t have people over to your house often I think it’s important to do a little bit of decorating to get into the spirit of the season. I really like
Jen’s idea of putting up one decoration/ornament a day and by the time Christmas is here all your decorations are up. That also helps me with the overwhelmingness decorating sometimes can feel like.
So what do I do to celebrate Advent?
Last year I participated in a
Jesse Tree Ornament Swap! The year before I found this awesome wooden tree in an after Christmas Sale for $5 that I spray painted Green and use to put the Jesse Tree Ornaments on.

Some other things I do is try and read daily advent reflections I receive either via email or from the books I have found at my parish. I’m not always good at keeping up with these things though. I also want to try and go to adoration or daily mass at least once a week.
One thing I like to do is to take part in different christmas/advent events that happen around town. Like take a ride on the nights of lights trolley that goes around downtown. My sister and I plan on taking a Segway tour one night during the season to be able to see all the lights. And of course listen to holiday themed music and movies.
I also always try and do something cool on my blog. This year I’m hosting an Advent Blog-hop. Every day of Advent different bloggers are sharing about their advent/christmas traditions and I’ll be sharing their blogs on social media and my blog. It seems to be going well so far but we’re only 2 days in HA.
There are a lot of photo challenges but I haven’t started any of them yet…some of them are HARD..especially when I don’t really go anywhere interesting most days. Hey I’m a work in progress. I hope everyone has a very Happy Advent and Christmas Season and see you all in the link-up next year!
Thanks for Jen and Morgan for hosting!
